Puerto Rico

The land of the “Boricuas” a term used exclusively for Puerto Ricans. The Taino Indians called their paradise Boriken, that term Boricua derives from that. Land of the Rum, Mofongo (a dish with fried plantains as its main ingredient) and the Coqui (frog native to Puerto Rico), three things you always think of when referring to this island. I love their people and their love for music,  they are born with rhythm in their blood. It was a Puerto Rican who introduced me to Salsa dancing many years ago  and after that I can say that my life was never the same! Not that I am any good at it but that was the moment that I was introduced to all the different sounds of Caribbean music.  Oh yes, and don’t forget that Reggaeton is the newest musical development to come out of Puerto Rico. This genre blends Jamaican-style dancehall beats with hip-hop raps in Spanish. Reggaeton took Latin America by storm starting in the late 1990s. Map of Puerto Rico
