About Me

Hi there and welcome!  My name is Ana Barranco and in the next few paragraphs I am going to tell you a little bit about myself. Please feel free to ask me any question you may have. By joining Barranco's Travelling Tribe I will get your questions directly.
Since I was very young it was clear that I had a very active imagination as well as a need for adventure.  Always seeking new things, grew up dreaming that I would live abroad and travel around the world.
Born and raised in Uruguay, a beautiful country in South America, where I  had a very happy childhood. Awesome parents, great family and amazing friends.  I would not change anything about that time. However, I always felt that I was a different because of the need to challenge the status quo. Always wanting to validate and experience things on my own, not taking what I was told as the only possibility, option or explanation.  Spanish is my native language but in order to reach more people chose English for this endeavor.
My journey started as an exchange student when I was seventeen years old and lived for a year in the United States in West Lafayette,  Ohio. Great experience, made lots of friends and after that I was hooked into learning more about other cultures. I was blessed with opportunities early in my journalistic career to interact and work side by side with  colleagues  from all  around the world.
Two major events helped shape who I am today: One, working for a major cable news network where diversity, tolerance and inclusion were part  of the culture; and the other, working for a brief period of time in Angola, Africa.  Both two turning points that made me appreciate life and others in a different way. It became clear that as human beings we all have more similarities than differences.  For the past eight years worked for a company member of the S&P 500, a publicly traded real estate investment trust that also embraced these same values.  Currently living in Los Angeles and taking advantage of any time off I have to explore my village (the World).
I have been very fortunate to experience the power and good of diversity and want others to understand and experience the same first hand.  My contribution to get you going is to share my own experiences so that you can create your own.
Let's do this  and ENJOY THE RIDE!
